UCI Road World Championships

25th September 2019

In September 2019 the world’s best cyclists will come to Yorkshire for the UCI Road World Championships, the pinnacle event in the international road cycling calendar. The Championships will include a range of men’s and women’s races, across age groups from junior to elite, starting in different towns and cities throughout Yorkshire and each finishing in the main competition town of Harrogate.

It will be the first time that Britain has hosted the UCI Road World Championships since 1982 and Yorkshire is aiming to deliver the most inclusive, innovative and inspiring Road World Championships in the history of the UCI.

The racing will commence on the Saturday 21st September with a ground-breaking para-cycling event running alongside the Championships which will act as a qualifier for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. The showcase will feature every Paralympic road racing discipline and take place in front of one of the largest crowds ever assembled for an elite para-cycling event.

Northallerton High Street retailers and businesses are starting to decorate their windows to celebrate the occasion. Organised through the Northallerton BID, businesses have been invited to pick a country to represent for the theme of their window display which will be judged by the mayor in a competition on 12th September. Come along and see what country Barkers will be?

The UCI Road World Championships will be in Northallerton on Wednesday 25th September 2019
