Are animals allowed in the store?
Guide dogs and other clean, well-behaved dogs are allowed in our High Street store. Only guide dogs are allowed in our restaurants.
Assistance dogs only are allowed at Barkers Home.
Do you have baby changing facilities?
Yes, they are situated on the First Floor.
Do you offer beauty services?
Our friendly and knowledgeable beauty team are on hand to offer expert advice when you need it. We offer complimentary make up applications and skincare services, and are delighted to have the Biju Brow Bar, offering a range of eyebrow and eyelash services.
Are there careers opportunities?

What if I have a complaint?
If you are unhappy with a product or service you have received, please let a member of staff know at the time and Barkers will try to put this right for you immediately.

We will respond to any complaints or queries as quickly as we can.
Do you have events?
Yes we do, both on the premises and at other locations throughout the year. Information regarding any events will be displayed in store, emailed to our Privilege Card customers or found on the What's On page of our website.
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes we do. Barkers Gift Cards make the ideal present and can be purchased from any till point (excluding restaurants). Gift Cards are available in any denomination from £5 upwards and can be used across both stores and in any restaurant. Full details can be found on the Gift Cards page.
What happens to lost property?
All lost property is taken to the Customer Service Desk, First Floor for safe keeping.
What are the store opening hours?
Barkers Department Store is open Monday - Saturday 09:00 - 17:30 & Sunday 10:00 - 16:00.

Is there parking?
There is pay and display short stay and long stay parking available at the rear of the store and also pay and display short stay parking available on the High Street.
Is there a Personal Shopping experience?
Yes there is. For more information on this service read our Personal Shopping page. Alternatively, call us directly on 01609 772 303 to arrange an appointment and discuss your requirements.
What is the refund policy?
Barkers has a 28 day refund policy. Goods can be returned, in a saleable condition with labels attached and receipt, within 28 days of date of purchase for a full refund. Your statutory rights are not affected.
What restaurants do you have?
The High Street store has 3 eating areas; Barkers Kitchen, 1882 Bistro and 1882 Café.
Barkers Kitchen is a first floor 180 seater counter service restaurant open Monday to Saturday 9am – 4pm and Sunday 10am – 3pm.
The 1882 Bistro is a first floor 82 seater waiter service restaurant open Monday to Saturday 10am – 4pm, and Sunday 10am - 3pm.
The 1882 Café is a 45 seater ground floor counter service café open Monday to Saturday 9am – 4pm.

When are sales?
Barkers has two sales each year; the summer sale takes place in June/July and the winter sale takes place on the first opening day after Christmas.
What is the store accessibility like?
Excellent. Barkers has street level or ramp access to all ground floor departments. A lift is available to the first floor with a Stannah lift to the raised Childrenswear and 1882 Bistro. We have an accessible toilet on the first floor.
What is the Privilege Card?
The Privilege Card is a loyalty card scheme where customers earn points on purchases. For full details please visit our Customer Service Desk.
Is there free Wi-Fi?
Yes, free Wi-Fi is available in our two restaurants and café for Barkers customers.
Are wheelchairs available?
Yes, we have two wheelchairs available for customers to use in store. Please ask a member of staff in our Cookshop Department, Ground Floor.
